The life of a hockey fan getting ready for a roadtrip.

This is my first blog. Somehow my husband and his friends feel that I should be sharing my thoughts and take on hockey with you. I guess my husband doesn't understand that I spend all day at work basically, computing all day long doing legal documents, that I need to do the same in my leisure time. Well, I will try to share my thoughts and insight with you and hope that you find my blog something you enjoy following.

Right now, I should be packing for a trip to New York to see the Lightning play the NY Islanders and NY Rangers this weekend. I guess two games weren't enough for Mark, my husband, he had to get tickets to the Nashville Predators vs. NJ Devils game Friday night. We arrive in NJ on Friday afternoon and start the hockey parade. I am looking forward to this trip. I have never been to these venues and will be looking forward to meeting new hockey fans and cheering on my Lightning. Yes, I'll be the lady in the white Lightning jersey with #4 on it. I don't expect to cause any commotion, but you never know.

I guess I should make sure that I have all of my bills paid, food for the cats, the house in order, as well as, pack some clothes. I wonder if any Lightning players are packing right now. Do they go through this process every time they have to hit the road for a road game? Probably, except they probably are pros at this now.

Now for a little Lightning insight. I have been impressed with the Lightning's ability to come back and win games lately. Surprising since in the past year, I would get my hopes up that the team was leading after 2 periods just to see them lose. This year has been different. I have noticed that this team is in the process of gaining its confidence and an identity. The coaching staff is still shuffling 3 of the 4 lines. The line of Stamkos, Downie and St. Louis seems to be cemented. However, I am still confused about the shuffling of linemates for Vinny Lecavalier and Ryan Malone. Any team that is successful has those guys who play together and gel by playing together night after night, creating chemistry, not the by products of a nightly science experiment. Of course, I can not leave out the efforts of Antero Niittymaki, a/k/a Frank, a/k/a Nitty Gritty. This guy has been fabulous in goal and the fans know that right now there is something special happening in Tampa.

Tomorrow is fast approaching and I still haven't packed yet. I have to go to work tomorrow, then ride to Tampa tomorrow night to see my beloved Lightning play the Boston Bruins before heading out early Friday morning for my first road trip of the year. I hope to share with you the happenings in Tampa and what hockey life is all about from the fan in the 3rd level at the St. Pete Times Forum. The best seat in the house is in the upper deck, we get to enjoy it all from here. We see if first before everyone else does.
